Food Cupboard
INTRODUCTION TO DVSA FOOD CUPBOARD
On each luncheon invitation, DVSA members are asked to consider a donation to the Food Cupboard. Usually, about $400 to $500 is collected from members in amounts ranging from $5 to $100.
The DVSA treasury accumulates money collected until it reaches $500. Any DVSA members may nominate recipient organizations involved in feeding the needy. These nominations are presented to and approved by the DVSA Board. The monies are presented at a DVSA luncheon to the recommending member for delivery to the charity.
In 2006, the Food Cupboard made four gifts of $500 each to member recommended charities. In 2007, five $500 gifts have gone to Jewish Family & Children’s Services of Greater Philadelphia, the Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry of Prospect Park, Media Presbyterian Church, Caring Cupboard of Trinity Presbyterian Church and St. Patrick Outreach Program in Malvern.
